Helena/Demetrius
So there is this guy Demetrius and a girl Helena. Now she likes him but he doesn't like her. So with just a little magic we go from "I'll run from thee and hide me in the brakes and leave thee to the mercy of wild beasts" to "Helen, Goddess, Nymph, perfect, divine!" no what happened to freedom of choice here he doesn't love her so he is forced into it i mean come on talk about crap but this relationship oversimplifies real life and i think it makes the story seem a little shallow and more of a fairy tale. i nkow with magic and fairies and all but i don't really know how to place the book and to be truthful without the "cheater" version with notes on one side and the play on the other i would have had no clue what was going on in this book but, anyways i guess we will rip it apart n class tomorrow.

I think it's funny that you say fairy tale--cuz. Well. There're fairies.
Sorry ya didn't like it. But--in the end--by making it a dream, Shakespeare's kinda like, "dah, it's not my fault it's 'oversimplified'," as you say. I just laugh when I think about it alll.
I liked your comment about Shakespeare's fairytale story. Since they didn't have TV back then, I guess plays like these were the best forms of entertainment!
Well its shakespeare would he have it any other way but to confuse us all.. Haha i like the story really, i think its more of a tale of love is blind and there are ups and downs that come along with it, and you have to see past things to get to the real love.

Well said. Yes I think this is a stretch...but if we can "Suspend our disbelief" for a little space in time, the situation is quite comedic in nature...and as some of your classmates have observed, not too "unrealistic" when we consider some of the "love relationships" we have been witness to in our "real lives" >.> There is something ultimately irrational about the state of "being in love"
nice analyzation of the play! lol sorry you didn't like it so much. it's just a shakespeare play though they're all pretty confusing! haha =)
